Landscapes-Nebraska Bohemian Alps
The gently rolling hills known as Nebraska’s Bohemian Alps is a region in the southeastern part of the state north of Lincoln and west of Omaha, a narrow stretch of land straddling Butler and Saunders counties. The area is named for the Czech nationals and German immigrants who settled there during the late 1800s. Farming is the main economic activity of the region with corn and soybean fields dominating the landscape, along with cattle.
I love photographing in this area for its beauty and the stewardship of the land. I have been photographing there periodically for several years between the months of May through early October. There is a connection between the people who farm the land and the land. It is simply about caring: about people, about the land and the relationship between them.
